I just wanted my add my little on this discussion of hospitals 'not allowing' sts. One of our co-leaders had pre-term twins and as they got older and stronger sts became an option. She would come for her 'scheduled' sts time only to be told they couldn't do it that day because their temp was down or their O2 stats were a little low. No matter how she pointed out that all research shows this will improve with sts - she was still not allowed to hold her babies. That is the main issue - research showing sts will warm babies up but you can't do it because the baby is cold and so on.

Hopes this adds another view of why those of us that don't work in NICU's want more sts happening.
