Hello to all. I remember reading here in the past that doulas tended to be,
shall we say, not so good for the breastfeeding effort.

I am the director of a nonprofit organization that provides 8 free hours of
in-home postpartum doula care to everyone who requests it in our
geographical area. I am in process of designing our training program, so I
thought I would ask for the collective wisdom of Lactnet on this question:

What are the most important things about breastfeeding that a postpartum
doula needs to know? As lactation consultants and professionals, what
things do you wish the doulas knew?

Thank you for any help you might want to give. I want to give you the
chance for input. I know what I think is important, but I want your
thoughts.

By the way, Dr. Jack Newman's breastfeeding book is on their required
reading list!

Thank you,
Jennifer Davis, ICCE-CD, CD(DONA)
