Dear Lactnetters,
Had a conversation with a SIDS researcher and a neonatologists who were
telling me the AAP is going to be coming out with a recommendation for the
broad use of pacifiers in all infants to reduce the risks of SIDS.
BAD IDEA?........I think, if babies were nursed, co-slept and offered infant
led feedings, I am certain it would be more effective.......I particularly
don't like the pacifier use in the early neonatal period. Study after study
show how negatively it impacts breastfeeding. Why can't we put into
perspective how this impacts the BIG PICTURE, overall general health and
well-being of the newborn.
Has anyone else heard such?
Thanks
