Jane states :

"Medela is a business, not a person. Businesses are in the mode of survival. They don't have feelings or ideas."

Ummm...so....what is the point? Regardless of whether we split hairs about Medela being a corporation or not, the entity which is Medela is still in a position to unduly influence mothers, to the detrimate of babies. What is there to defend here?

Are we supposed to stand by and watch babies being harmed simply because it is the way capitalism works? Are we supposed to stand by and watch a "business" do harm, simply because that is what "businesses" do, (if it is what allows them to make money and not lay people off?)

Jane states: "Those people may be looking at ways to increase sales. If a business is a publicly traded company, a decrease in profits means lower value and the stockholders will push for profits over morals see: Nestle. When businesses see profits in obeying the code, THEN they will obey the code. When they see losses, they will not obey the code."

So, we who advocate for babies and breastfeeding should not complain that Medela apparently doesn't really care about mothers putting babies to the breast. Or that Medela does not honor the Code.

But Jane DOES know what Medela DOES really and truly care about:

"Medela wants to see more people breastfeeding and using their products, definitely. It is to their best interests to design the best products possible to keep mothers breastfeeding and babies getting breast milk EVEN IF the mother has to be away. That includes excellent efficient breast pumps AND (no tomatoes please) they believe, bottles that don't stop a baby from going back to the breast. "

With all due respect, just how do you know this is true? Do you speak for Medela?

And...... "Bottles that don't stop babies from going back to the breast?" Have they invented such a thing? This is news to me.
