Cathy brings up a sticky issue I run into:
<<in most places in the US, paretns are told not to
bathe a baby before the umbilicus falls off. This
erects a barrier to using the low tech, high touch,
low cost, convenient, highly effective technique of
co-bathing to help reluctant babies latch on.>>

I try phrasing such as:
"If you and your baby are comfortable/ready-to-try
bathing together..."
How do others handle this? I'm a huge fan of
co-bathing but many moms tell me they have "doctor's
orders" not to put that belly in water. I try not to
undermine Mom's relationship with anyone else on her
team but co-bathing is such a terrific "trick" up my
sleeve, especially this early in the game.

How much do you say?

Susan
