Not sure I have quite understood the problem but here are the two answers
that came to mind ...
A cc of water weighs a gram.  Milk is mostly water so we assume that its
density is so close to that of water that a gram of milk also weighs a gram.
(Actually there would be a difference and given that the fat content of milk
varies at each feed, the weight of a cc of milk would be different at each
feed but you'd need some unbelievably accurate equipment to measure that)

If Dad is suggesting that because he puts (say) 600mls of milk into the baby
it should put on 600g each day, he is forgetting that some of what goes in,
comes out (possetting, nappies, sweat, tears).
