Jeanne from WI writes that she reads our vents on Lactnet and wonders why
she would want to become an IBCLC. I go home SOME nights and occasionally
vent and also wonder why but then my husband reminds me that if it weren't
for the LLL leaders or the CLE's or the IBCLC's who would support
breastfeeding and stand up for the mothers and babies health? When I stammer
to answer that I am again reminded that what we know and do does make a
difference for the breastfed baby's health and perhaps even the emotional
stability of that person through out their life.

If it weren't for us who would that leave to fight for health of babies? It
certainly wouldn't be the formula company. Jeanne studying for the IBCLC
exam is the best furthering of breastfeeding education you could do. You
know a lot already but the exam prep really pulls it all together and then
you can even support and educate the parents better with that additional
knowledge. Some days one even get to educate the physicians (without them
knowing it) about how breastfeeding and human milk works. Best of luck.
