Hello everyone,

Trawling through the NEJM and following links today, I came across a
picture of torus palatinus, a benign overgrowth of bone on the
palate. See
http://image-challenge.nejm.org/default.aspx?mode=js#04192007 The
accompanying link says that approximately 20% of the population has
at least a small torus palatinus, which often goes unnoticed until
middle age. This condition occurs twice as often in women as in
men. See
http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/356/17/1759 I've never
seen anything about this in our lactation texts, and yet it could
surely impact on breast discomfort during breastfeeding.

Can anyone provide more info/experience?

Pamela Morrison, IBCLC (intrigued in England)
