Rachel,
It is so so very clear. and those researchers are so correct in theory if a bit off regarding the specifics.

Please read your post again, I quote:

According to our national broadcasting company, breastfeeding may be vital to
the survival of the species. Here is the story, translated by me in its
entirety, from the website of the broadcasting company. (I am not making
this up.)
"Breastfeeding may be essential for infants. Children who breastfeed
during sleep cut their risk of SIDS in half, new research shows.
Breastfed children strengthen the musculature in their throats and the upper
part of their trachea.
The children sleep more lightly when they breastfeed, and the
researchers believe that children who die of SIDS, sleep deeply.
Department director Lorenz M. Irgens at the Medical Birth Registry says a
breastfeeding recommendation can come this fall."

If someone could only point out to them and make them realize that a pacifier is only a poor substitute for nature's protection plan!!!!
