Dear Lactnetters,

I received the following email message from an CNM who needs some help with
documentation about the therapeutic use of Cabbage leaves. I know that there
have been some published studies for this but I thought somebody on the list
would be more handy than me at passing them on. With Susan's permission I am
reposting her email to me here on LACTNET. Please respond to her directly at
this email:

Dear Doctor, As a CNM I often order Cabbage leaves to the breast as
treatment for engorgement. Now a patient and her family are acusing me of
"witchcraft" :) They say they have never heard of it and dont believe it.
She has a very bad abscess in her breast and the general surgeon she is
seeing said what I told her about cabbage is "crazy" The grandmother says I
caused the abscess by telling her to put the cabbage leaves on her breast.
Can you help me with some information or support?? thanks susan
