Thanks Cathy for bringing us back to what should be the atmosphere of this list. We all have a degree of emotional investment in the subjects discussed and sometimes it is easy to have our "buttons" pushed. Your advice to read a post over several times and allow a little time before responding is excellent. The knee jerk reactions that sometimes get posted do more to disturb the discussion than to make a point. There are ways to disagree that foster further discussion and ways that make everyone dig in their heels. Let's all try to make the former kind when we feel strongly about something that has been said. As one who has had the experience of having a post taken out of context and/or reacted to very strongly, I can say that the first reaction is to withdraw. In my case,as many of you know, I am too stubborn and gabby to back off completely, but I wonder how many folks that might have had wonderful ideas to add to our discussions have been made "gun shy" and hesitate to share for fear of being pounced upon. Who knows how many great ideas we have missed because we have made someone afraid of expressing their thoughts.

Winnie
