Hi Mary
First, let me say that I am not aware of any evidence that thickening feeds improves reflux disease. Perhaps you could ask those who are advocating the use of cereal to thicken feeds to show you evidence of safety/efficacy. Second, yes, the enzymes in raw breastmilk will digest starch. If you mix cereal with breastmilk and leave it on the bench, about 15 mins later, your nice thick cereal will have the consistency of water.

The staff are telling me that the enzymes in the breastmilk break down the cereal so that the added cereal is ineffective for the reflux if added to breastmilk, but works well when added to Neosure. Has anyone ever heard of this?
