Just as a caution to those who are just starting to use this device, be
careful how quickly you cut down on supplementation , especially if the
baby has been receiving the majority of calories from the supplementer.
Although the mom may feel that her milk supply is increasing, as it
probably is, it is likely to take more that a day or two to get to the
point where baby can be maintained totally at the breast with no
supplement. Cut back slowly and watch the baby's cues and weight gain.
It can take weeks or sometimes even months to get to that point. In some
cases where there is an ongoing physical problem which precludes
establishment of a full milk supply, baby may need to be supplemented
indefinitely.
