Subject: failed or unsuccessful

I asked my husband how he felt about the words "fail$ and "unsuccessful". He
agreed with me and the others who have posted that failed is more negative
than unsuccessful. He pointed out something very interesting, at least to
me. He said that we should really be saying "an unsuccessful attempt to
breastfeed" not just "unsuccessful at breastfeeding". By saying it his way
it comes across as a person attempting something as climbing a mountain and
not accomplishing or achieving that goal but with the opportunity still open
to try again. What do you all think of this perspective?
