If someone is addicted to narcotics, then the narcan should not be used on the mother or the baby. The narcan can put the infant into seizures because of sudden narcotic withdrawal. I guess it would put a drug addict into the same type of seizure. I was always taught if someone is a known drug user then Narcan is off limits because of the seizure potential.
