re:suggestion of piggy bank - our hospital uses simple pictures to identify the rooms on the peds ward, rather than numbers, so children can find their own rooms. Pressure from Muslim patients led to the removal of the simple outline of a pig to identify a room. Parents didn't want their children in the pig room. The ward had to come up with an alternate animal symbol. So, never an idea so good that someone can't object to it. We don't have enough Jews to comprise a community in my small city in this very goyish part of the world, so I don't know whether there would have been objections from that quarter as well.
How about a stylized pictogram along the lines of what is used on traffic signs? Why have an accessory rather than an image of a person for a playroom or safe area?
We use clear giant graduated cylinders when collecting money in a public place so everyone can see how far we are from the target figure. Symbolizes a pile of money. Who would use a bottle as a money container, anyway?
