Dear Friends:

I've been cruising the formula company websites. They twist all of our
breastfeeding lingo into ways to include their product. One of them has a
page about poop with pictures of bf stool in along with the formula shit.
Here's what they say:

Similac.com “Isn't baby poop shocking? First it's black as tar, and now
it's bright yellow; but this stool is totally normal. Breast-fed babies'
poop has a mild smell, and might come with loud, even explosive, sound
effects. Your baby might be able to trash several cute outfits in a single
day.”

I am designing a breastfeeding campaign based on my foray into the world of
formula website marketing. See what you all think; comments are welcomed and
sought, off-list or on.

1) Breastfeed. Baby poop is mild and easy to deal with. The color change
tells you about your milk supply so you can relax. Your baby has a built-in
pop-out gauge! (Or should I say, “poop-out gauge?”)

Part of raising a baby is dealing with mess. That’s life. Grown-ups deal
with things. No one tells them what to do!

2) Breastfeed. You feed his imagination. They'll ruin his immune system.

3) Breastfeed for health. Babies are little. They sleep and eat in naps
and snacks.

1. Too much sleep at one time is a risk for SIDS.

2. Too much food at a meal is a risk for fat.

Formula feeding is a risk for SIDS. Formula feeding is a risk for
fat. Breastfeed, for your baby's health.

4) Breastfeed. Your milk = a perfect blend of probiotics, DHA and
ARA, lutein, vitamins, minerals, natural and gentle proteins, immunities,
living cells, water, essential fats and the right amount of carbohydrates.

                                                             ii. Only
you make the best milk for your baby. You always have. You always will.

                                                            iii. The
companies are always figuring out how to make the best milk. They haven't
done it yet.

  5) Breastfeed: Who profits most when you breastfeed?

1. You.

2. Your baby.

3. The environment.

                                                             ii. Who
profits most when you feed formula?

1. Stockholders in a corporation.

I figure as the companies are using all of our stuff to make a profit, we
can use their style to improve health. Plus the evidence supports US, not
them!! So we are defending against any attack.

What do you all think?

warmly,
