A former client e-mailed me from her new town to ask for
lactnet's help. She continues to nurse her 2 year old and is
even looking into LLL Leadership, despite the fact that her
nipples have never been entirely comfortable. Just before her
period, her breasts become super sore, but at all times her
nipples are a little irritated. The problem is most pronounced
on the right side, where for the past month and a half the pain
has remained constant, regardless of the stage of her menstrual
cycle.

When she lived here, we worked through a bunch of thrush
treatments, including several treatments with gentian violet,
topical application of nystatin and lotrimin AF, and acidophilus.
We stopped short of Diflucan but she made major dietary changes,
eliminating all refined sugar, yeasted bread products, cured meats.

It all helped. In addition to *some* relief of her nipple
discomfort, she also had less intestinal gas, her chronically
itchy ear canals were relieved, and her son also seemed less
gassy and more comfortable.

Well before her pregnancy, she'd had a year of antibiotics, and
had come to believe that her chronically gurgley stomach was
normal... until it improved with the yeast diet.

While she lived here, she also had a dermatologist diagnose
as psoriasis some scaly, red patches on her breast and areola.
She treated them with topical steroid and antifungal cream as they
occurred. The patches gradually lessened in severity but still
occur occasionally. She also has psoriasis on knees and wrists.

She's beginning to think about another pregnancy and wants to get
"cleaned up" first. She wrote me specifically so I could ask all of
you. What would your treatment plan be?
