Both sides need to lighten up on breastfeeding
By Lydia Lovric -- Winnipeg Sun

"Breast is best, but what ever happened to a bit of modesty? ...
The fact is, the female breast is sexual... Yes, the human breast is also designed to feed offspring, but that doesn't preclude
breasts from being sexual as well. Most women understand this and that's why the vast majority of nursing moms have the good sense
to be discreet.
After all, a bit of modesty is nothing shameful."

Dear Editor:

A woman’s lips and mouth are designed to allow her to eat, but that doesn’t preclude lips and mouths from being sexual.

Don’t agree? Then why do women spend billions each year on lipstick, lip enlargements, and tooth whiteners to frame their pretty
lips?
Millions of women—and even more men—believe a woman should be modest enough to hide her mouth in public. After all, a bit of a veil
is nothing shameful.

In fact, given that millions of people worldwide accept this standard of modesty as being appropriate for women, one wonders why
Lydia Lovric is not modest enough to comply. Millions of women do comply, and it hasn’t killed them to do so. In fact, it’s
actually safer to comply and wear the veil, rather than try to explain to a disapproving society that a woman is only overtly sexual
when she wants to be, and that the rest of the time she’s just trying to live a normal life, like men are.

I am looking forward to seeing Lydia Lovric’s new, modest photo in the Winnipeg Sun, with veil. Why not? There’s nothing shameful
in a woman doing everything she can to meet other’s standards of modesty with respect to the inherently sexual female body.
