Jan comments about being accused of making moms feel like a failure
if they don't have natural chiuldbirth. I remember a supervisor at
a previous job making a big issue of the idea that when a mom feels
she "failed" at birth if she has a C/S it's because the childbirth
educators "set her up".
My answer to that notion is, "How do you explain MacBeth?" In the
play Macbeth is told that "none of woman born" can harm him. He, of
course, feels immortal. As he is being stabbed to death he asks how
this can be. His attacker says, if effect, "Ha, ha. The joke's on
you. I was born by C-Section" (from my mother's womb untimely
ripped). So where were the childbirth educators at the time of
Shakespeare who were responsible for the idea that an operative
birth wasn't natural?

Winnie
