I really like Lisa Stellwagen's SPIN program - Supporting Premature Infant Nutrition. She has made many of her materials available online and has done a series of videos describing the 5 stages of getting the preterm breastfed newborn to the breast. Just click on the link for videos. I show some of these in our staff training. They are great! Two other people that also have great NICU programs are Jane Morton from Stanford University hospital and Paula Meier from Rush hospital in Chicago.

Subject: Breastfeeding in the NICU

Does anyone have information/resources/protocols for initiation of breastfeeding in the NICU?

Our unit is trying to standardize our process, but I'm having trouble finding evidence-based research.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks.
