Jonathan, You suggested that public policy should require breastfeeding, to
the point of making breastfeeding "compulsory." It would be a giant step
forward if public policy recognized the hazards of artificial feeding. I
think your idea of requiring a prescription for purchase of ABM is
excellent.

We require car seats and vaccinations because their value to public health
is recognized. Infant nutrition is seen by most people as a lifestyle
choice.

Most health programs (public and private) have well established guilt
prevention protocols for assisting parents in making feeding decisions.
Retraining will require much time/effort and, at this juncture, lacks a high
profile--not to mention inadequate funding.  ;-}
