I have a mom (PTP) who called me with concerns about numbness and pain in her left breast. She has been breastfeeding her son for 2 months with no past history of breastfeeding or medical problems. The pain and numbness started 5 days ago. The numbness is constant. She has a small pain constantly in the lower part of her breast and chest, with sharp pains that come and go. She has made no changes to her feeding/pumping schedule. She does not have implants. She does not have any clogged ducts that she is aware of, and no signs of thrush.

Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this?

Thank you for your input!

Kelli Canady, IBCLC, MAEd
