I had this for about 3 months when my dd was about 18 months old. I weaned
her from the left breast (which she has now relactated) because of the
severe pain and nipple separation. My breasts flaked, my bra stuck to the
areola at times, they itched, they were swollen after a hot bath or shower,
etc. . .

I tried homeopathics, a dermatologist prescription, tea tree oil, Monistat,
Vaseline, gentian violet, aromatherapy, chamomile, lotrimin, colloidal
silver, you name it, and I tried it. What finally worked was a Melaluca
product (no financial interest here) for athletes foot. I figured why not,
I've tried everything else. I don't know if it will help your mom, in fact I
don't know if you even know half of the names of the products that I've
mentioned here, but thought I would tell you what helped me.
