Those on the list who have Medela rental stations should have received a
"2003 Medela Rental/Retail Price List Addendum" recently.  The
information about Classics is in the lower half of page 2:
            "Effective March 2003 Medela did stop producing new Classic
pumps. However, we expect to have remaining inventory of new Classics
available to order until 9/1/03, on a first come, first served basis.
Once this remaining inventory is depleted, new Classics will no longer
be available.
            "Please be assured that Medela will continue renting Classic
pumps and will provide parts and service for existing Classics within
the Medela rental fleet."

Note: despite the date referenced above, I received this Addendum in
early October!
