I have one of "those" clients, where we wonder why they called if they
don't want the benefit of a professional. Baby is a couple weeks old,
family history of big babies via csec. Baby gained 10oz in the last four
days and screams if unlatched even for a moment for mom to use the
bathroom, and has done this since birth. Dad has contacted me, but still he
is dead certain that this is just a baby who is programmed to grow fast,
and wants tips on how to increase mom's supply to keep up with this growth.
I did give this info, before I knew the weights. I have suggested to the
family that a baby who is drinking so much and yet is never happy is very
likely nursing for comfort because of some underlying issue. I suggested a
CST evaluation, since this was a csec. Diapers are mustardy, not the green
of oversupply.

So my question is, just how fast can growth be and still be normal? I
really think that if this were truly normal, baby would be happy, not
miserable.
