From my point of view, here are the breastfeeding crimes I see committed
most.

1. Anesthesiologist who gets the epidural in the wrong place and has to do
it over.
(Baby cannot suck for a long time).
2. L&D nurse who does not encourage early skin to skin and breastfeeding in
the first 30 minutes to an hour, and sends the baby back to the nursery
without nursing.
(Decreases maternal confidence, puts the baby at risk of low blood
sugar).............. 3., 4., 5., 6., 7., 8., 9., 10..>

I cannot resist adding my two cents on this topic. I am stepping onto the
soapbox.....beware.

Make midwifery care THE standard of care for all pregnant women and make it
continuous care, same midwife sees same woman from first prenatal visit
through labor and birth through the six week postpartum period. Midwives are
THE specialists, THE experts in normal pregnancy, normal childbirth and
normal breastfeeding. Midwives know when to call in the specialists in
complications, the OBs, the IBCLC, the PEDs. Vive la childbirth revolution!

Off the box.
