Hi everyone,

I received a very early call this morning from which I am still trying
not to pull my hair out! Since the mom was calling from another island,
I took this early morning call. Since I cannot go back to sleep, what
better way to relieve my irritation than by sharing it with all of you.
:)

First, this mom was not able to nurse baby for the first 24 hours after
birth because of the antibiotics she was taking. Well, baby is now three
weeks, so no point getting into this one. Now, baby's pediatrician told
mom that she had to stop breastfeeding. Why? Mom has many allergies
including dairy, and she is passing her allergies on to her child through
her milk! I did not know whether to laugh or cry!

Well, the mom started baby on abm yesterday. Guess what? Baby can't
keep it down, even the soy formula. Thankfully, mom was continuing to
nurse at night. She's terribly engorged as well.

She will be seeing this pediatrician today and sharing the information we
discussed. I told her that I'd be more than hapy to send this doctor
information. :)

Thanks.

Aloha,
