My youngest had this. In his case, food was not an issue (having said that, 
we did not consume any dairy products so I don't know if he might have also 
had a dairy sensitivity if he had been exposed to it) but fabrics and 
detergents were. He could only have cotton or wool touching his skin, and 
all his clothes had to be washed in soap, not detergent. If someone held him 
who was wearing synthetic fibres or clothes washed in detergent, he'd 
immediately develop eczema where his skin touched their clothes.
