in the US a midwife is a CNM (certified nurse midwife)
RN is registered nurse. This can be a 2, 3 or 4 year course.
ADN Associate Degree in Nursing (2 year course).
3 year course is a Diploma Nurse - used to have no college training. I
believe it now does)
BSN is Bachelor of Science in Nursing ( 4 year RN course gets BSN.)
MSN is Master of Science in Nursing
APN is Advanced Practice Nurse, the new name for NPs(Nurse Practitioners)
in New Jersey
NPs come in many types, Family, Neonatal, Pediatric etc. Some use a C to
signify Certified.

The funny thing in the US is that a 2, 3, or 4 year nurse can all do the
same thing as an RN. Talk about confusing :-)
Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
