Susan,

I'm perhaps using terms incorrectly (I have no prior knowledge of the
surrogate world). By "bio" mom, I'm referring to the non-gestating mom (the
egg donor). The parents (egg/sperm donors) will not be able to continue
lactation as the mother (not the surrogate) has had breast cancer twice and
(as far as I know) lactating is physically impossible for her.

Thanks for your thoughts! I think providing information about how amazing
colostrum is and the best way for baby to get the maximum amount will be
crucial information for this family. Also, if the time at the breast is
limited, it might not seem so "weird."

Holly: did you notice if the non-birth mother did a lot of skin to skin with
the baby when s/he wasn't nursing? I'm wondering if this would be a good
idea (to have the parents do lots of s2s when the surrogate wasn't
nursing--if they decide to go this route, that is...)

Jessica
