I have always noticed more boys than girls having difficulty at the
breast. I haven't kept statistics (maybe I'll start now), but wondered
why. I can't blame it on the circs. Most of the circs here are done
right before they go home, and I'm called to see them well before that.
The nurses have always jokingly said it's because girls are smarter than
boys ( notice all female nursing staff). But I wonder if it's not
something with the mother. We all know if a mother is tense she won't
have a let down and often the baby will fuss. I wonder if on a
subconscious level the mothers are more relaxed with the girls than the
boys for some reason.
Just a thought.
