Sandy Arnold, who may not be on lactnet right now, actually *ended* the
formula give-aways at the hospital where she gave birth, with a single
well-phrased, well-placed letter.

She sent a letter to I think the ethics committee and perhaps the CEO -
anyway, to people *outside* the maternity floor, saying in essence:

"I'm confused. As a result of the childbirth preparation you gave me, I was
led to believe that breastfeeding was the healthy choice for me and my
child, and that formula-feeding was related to an increase in certain health
problems.

"Yet you sent me home with a great many supplies and pieces of literature
*from* a formula company, as if this was in fact an options that's just as
healthy for us, and that you heartily endorse.

"Which message am I supposed to believe??"

The non-maternity powers were horrified, and the formula goodies stopped.
One woman, one letter.

Sandy, could you elaborate?
