I am re-reading Cadwell & Maffei's excellent book "Case studies in BF", and
I noticed something that I am not sure I understand.

At pag 13 (table, lower line, central column) about a woman who has
postpartum engorgement and has history of breast augmentation surgery with
scars around the nipple and is not planning to breastfeed, the authors
write: "try compression to accelerate involution and decrease pain".
I wonder what they intend by "compression". In Italy they often suggest
breast binding for stopping milk production, and this is usually extremely
painful and uncomfortable for moms. Is this what Cadwell and Maffei are
suggesting (breast binding), or are they suggesting to try breast
compression (=expression) to relieve engorgement?
I would suppose the second, but the part "to accelerate involution"
confuses me...

What is your interpretation?

Thanks,
