I was stumped today by a mom who is 2wks postpartum who reports a
decrease in milk supply, so pumped to try to boost supply; observed
bright red blood she described as "squirting" into the breastmilk; her
nipples are not sore and are intact; I have seen "rusty pipe" syndrome
but not one-sided and not pure blood squirting into the milk..always
just seen as a pink tinge in the milk. I suggested she keep pumping and
feed baby as usual but to see her OB Monday if it continues, just in
case something is wrong. Any ideas?
