Dear Michelle and all,

Glad you noticed the LLLI policy, Michelle!

*did come across this information from LLLI:

*A Leader shall not ever suggest an informal milk-donation
arrangement, including wet-nursing or cross-nursing.*

Here is a link to the LLLI policy on human milk sharing.

http://www.llli.org/Release/milksharing.html

and thanks for posting the link to the full policy. I'd like to point
out that there is more to the policy than just the piece quoted. It
covers the Leader's role - to give information and support, so that
the mother can make her own informed decision; offering information
about how to increase the mother's own milk supply, re-lactate or
induce lactation if appropriate; offering information about local
licensed milk banks; and much else as well. If the mother is keen to
use informally shared milk, the Leader talks about the risks and
benefits. (These might depend on the situation - if you're living
through a drought or famine in a country with no safe water supply,
things might look different from if you're having a difficult time in
a developed country.)

I don't know of any guidelines for IBCLC work.

Rachel
LLL Leader, IBCLC
