I have had one mother with virtually no milk able to be expressed for 8
days. At that time, she got a good supply in. I don't remember her
particulars, what, if any, risk factors she had, but she did pump regularly
and faithfully.
I would recommend regular pumping in addition to frequent bf and kangaroo
care, and supplement the baby as needed for satiety and wt gain. I think the
anemia can definitely be contributing so I would make sure mom is on a
nutritious diet and Fe if needed and getting plenty of rest, if possible. Of
course you could investigate for retained placenta, hormonal variations,
etc.
