Listserv -- At our hospital, our lactation consultants (IBCLCs) are

currently under the job code of RN Educator. I have met with our

Director of Women's & Children's and am advocating for a separate

lactation consultant job code; as I feel they do much more than just

educating. I have shared with her the IBCLC standards of practice as

well as a summary of some of the patient visits/phone calls we get to

demonstrate the variety and complexity of some of the patients we serve.

So, my director is curious as to whether most LCs are in a separate job

code for lactation consultants or in an RN Educator job code.

Can you please email me and let me know which job code you or your

lactation consultants are in?.... If they're in a lactation job code,

can you indicate if they are IBCLC? Lastly, please let me know

hospital/city/state.

Feel free to email me directly. If anyone has a job description they'd

be willing to share, that'd be great too!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Becky S.
