Dear Sue and Chan,
You're right-on about the needs of babies for their mothers. In my opinion,
our society is very anti-child, and woe be the mother who LIKES continuous
contact for several years which appears to biologically driven. There's
something scary when moms and babies are pitted against one another.
Separating mothers and babies before physiological readiness is another of
those "uncontrolled experiments," the results of which are just now being
looked into by Magid and others. Unbonded babies have lots of problems ahead.
Keep up your good work.
Linda Smith, long-patient mom waiting for childrens' autonomy, knowing it
will EVENTUALLY happen.
