**Hello Christina,

**I read your whole story and I understand what you mean. I also agree that
this is what happens: constant brainwashing and disempowerment. And I also
agree with you that that is a very sad thing.

So yes, I do empathize with these women who seem to cling so dearly to the
misinformation that is out there. Because I think that for some of them,
they really, really believe deep down inside that they they aren't good
enough, their milk isn't good enough or plentiful, and their bodies just
aren't capable. When you've been fed a lie long enough, you internalize it
and you believe it.

**But exactly here lies my point: how can they start believing otherwise, if
noone tells them otherwise? Who's the one to tell a different, *em*powering
story, a story in line with our biological nature, in line with how humanity
survived over the millenia...? I don't wanna be the one who could have
offered a different perspective, but didn't, anticipating the fear they were
way to deep in already.
I think the internalizing process you describe is true, but then again...
should I be the one to confirm the lie or should I find a way to gently
explain it is a lie altogether and sow seeds for a new belief and present a
mirror that says: "Your body is fine and strong and it can carry, deliver
and feed your offspring from your own resources!"
I'm more than willing to hold a woman/mother when she's grieving; I just
simply have problems with confirming the lie. Who's quote is it again...?
"What you permit, you promote." I like it, very much. People may find me a
pain in the ass now and then, because I don't settle for the easy way out,
but hey... in the long run, like you say, repeated messages will sink in.
When you've been fed a (to you) new truth long enough, you may substitue the
lie for this hopeful and strong message and internalize it and... you will
come to believe it, like you managed! Let's all keep up the growth in the
year ahead of us! ;-)

Warmly,

Marianne Vanderveen, Netherlands
