I just got the 2001 birth statistics for the hospital
where I teach childbirth classes and their c/sec rate
has been slowly increasing over the last number of years.
Last year, it was up just over 24%. I remember when
national rates got up that high a number of years ago
there was an uproar and efforts were made to bring it
down. Those efforts were somewhat successful, but
apparently not on the long term.
Does anyone have national statistics on c/secs in general
and c/secs and how they correlate with bf initiation and
duration? Also, is there a breakdown somewhere for how many
c/secs and done for what medical indications? This would be
helpful info. to have when I present c/secs and how to
negotiate with your doctor about them.

Thanks for any info you have or resources you can point
me to.
