Mandy,

We used to have a mom in our LLL group who successfully nursed her baby
after having breast implants. This mom produced a full supply of milk.
She never seemed to doubt that she would breastfeed her baby. She even
noted that with lactation, she gained back sensation in her breasts which
was lost after the "female mammary mutilation" (Can you tell that I just
finished reading Beauty and the Breast?).

I no longer have contact with this woman, but the last time I saw her,
she was still nursing her baby then 6 months old with plenty of rolls.

The mom mentioned that her doctor assured her that she would be able to
still breastfeed. I know that he has told other women this too. Maybe,
it would be worth looking into as to why he is so confident. At least
for this mom, he was right.

Aloha,
Gloria Thai LLLLeader Hawai'i
