Evi:  The Keys to Caregiving mentioned in the article you cite is actually a 
component to an assessment tool called Nursing Child Assessment Satellite 
Training (NCAST).  It's a research-based program out of the University of 
Washington (USA) that has been in existence for 30 years.  It is a program 
well worth becoming certified in.  There are two assessment components the 
observer scores - how the mother/child interact during teaching and during 
feeding.  I use the word "observer" because the purpose of this person is to 
strictly observe the interaction.  There is no input by the observer into the 
interaction.  As the observer watches, she scores the various interactions on 
a form, adds up the scores and then discusses the results with the mother.  
Some of the items scored include, eye contact between the mother and child, 
appropriateness of both the mother's and child's responses to each other 
cues, and the level of engagement of each during the interaction.
I became certified during the years I worked with teen mothers.  The moms 
really enjoyed learning more about themselves and their babies and how they 
could, as mothers, enhance their relationships with their babies.
