I certainly understand K & K's concerns about commercialization of Lactnet,
and the resultant rule of not plugging things on this listserve. However, I
often don't get info on conf. I find out about later and die cuz I missed.
Is there a way to have a bboard attached to Lactnet (or to Rachel's
Lactivist list?) which would be a place to announce conf. and programs, or to
include small reviews of good new books. For instance, letting people know
about Dr. Hale's book has been so useful, or Kathy D.s etc. Turning people
on to great new research articles seems to be ok on our own list, but for
newcomers who don't know what to read or where to look for info, short book
reviews might be very helpful. Because this on-line info sharing is so fast
and so up-to-date it really is a cool way to communicate about ed.
opportunities in one's region or books you might not hear about otherwise.
