My daughter and I were just talking about this yesterday! I think that there
is a window of opportunity for women when they give birth - it is a time
when instincts seem to be the most powerful. Given even a little
encouragement and opportunity, those instincts for mothering can come to the
surface and transform our lives. I think that's what has happened to many of
us on Lactnet.

Obviously it doesn't always happen, and I agree that there are many powerful
forces working against it, but one of the reasons I want to work with
mothers and babies is because I believe this is time of huge potential for
women.
