I have heard from varying sources (LC's, Docs, Peds, RN's) two very
different views regarding newborn weight loss of 10%. Some people think
that a 10% weight loss within the first few days is pretty normal and as
long as baby is eating, stooling and voiding within set parameters then
everything is fine. The other group feels that a 10% weight loss is a
critical situation that requires immediate action, usually in the form
of formula supplementation.
I would like to hear what protocol people on this list adhere to and if
there are any studies done addressing newborn weight loss.

Thank You,
Lynelle Hofman
