 When can mother breastfeed?: as soon as the mother is ready to breastfeed.
Any that would get into breast milk will not be there very long, AND if baby even ingested any lidocaine, it would be immediately broken down in the baby's gut.  That is why lidocaine is given by injection!
Twelve hour wait is unacceptable.
