Just got a call from a friend who talked with a mother who has been diagnosed
with postpartum thyroiditis. The mother is on a beta blocker for heart
palpitations. She was told by physician to wean because of the beta blocker,
but she did some research on the medication and decided to continue
breastfeeding. She is breastfeeding a 2-year-old. The doctor is recommending
a thyroid scan, for which the mother will need to temporarily wean.

Does anyone have any information on postpartum thyroiditis and breastfeeding;
is it not unusual to have this condition 2 years postpartum? Please email me
privately as well as to the list. Thanks in advance for any info.
