Pat:  Epidurals can have a permanent effect on suck IF bad habits are
established.  In terms of physiology, it would depend on the baby's liver
status (jaundice?), length of time of epidural, and other factors.  In any
case, 2-3 weeks is what I've seen in babies who are liable to this.
