I am not sure of your question.  Are you asking about what is "done" to
infants who became hiv positive through their mother's pregnancy, labor, or
birth?  I believe that in the US all hiv positive mothers are "discouraged"
(discouraged might not be an accurate term in some cases) from breastfeeding.
 We have created policies to "prevent" hiv transmission, when 3/4's of those
babies born of hiv positive mothers will test hiv positive by virtue of the
mother's pregnancy, labor, or delivery.  Why should those 3/4's not
breastfeed?  Hiv transmission has already occurred.

Jodine,   The DNA PCR test is not sensitive in the first month of an infant's
life--it creates alot of false-positives (up to 50%)
